While this event is an enormous amount of fun for the entire family it is also the primary fundraising event for the CERT teams of Broward County. As you can read on the about page, the CERT teams are comprised of volunteer citizens that support our first responders when needed. While our primary mission is to assist the community in time of disaster, the local teams do much more. We support our firefighters with rehabilitation (hydration, cooling, food, etc) at fire scenes, we search for our beloved children and elderly residents when they become lost, we educate the public during various events teaching things such as hands-only CPR, smoke detector and fire extinguisher awareness and other things. We basically will go out and support our first responders or the public whenever we can assist. You can bet that whatever the time of day, if our first responders are called out you will find CERT members out supporting them.

As I'm sure you can imagine, maintaining a team is not inexpensive. There are many costs including vehicles, supplies, etc. All of our fundraising goes directly to the purchase of the needed supplies and equipment to support our communities.

So, how can you help? There are several ways you can help...

  • If you own a business related to public safety, health or wellness then consider becoming a sponsor or vendor. The registration fee helps support us and you get a large audience to share your company with.

  • You can donate new items to the event to be used for raffle prizes

  • You can send a direct donation. We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and your donation is tax deductible. If you would like to make a cash donation to support the CERT teams of Broward County, make a check out to "Fire Chiefs Association of Broward County" and mail to:

    • Fire Chiefs Association of Broward County
      c/o Florida Safety Fest
      931 NW 31 Ave.
      Pompano Beach, FL 33069

Or, consider getting trained and becoming a CERT member yourself! The CERT teams of the County are always looking for additional people to help. There is no better way to support your family, neighborhood and community than being a trained CERT member. And oh, did we mention the training is FREE. If you are interested in getting trained and joining a CERT team please look at the teams in the related sites section and follow the link for information on the team.
